Unique Jewelry JÓIA by Yanira Ramirez.
“There is nothing new in art except talent.”
I would like to share with you my discovery of a talented jewelry maker, Yanira Ramirez. I met her at the local market in Wesley Chapel, and was impressed by her jewelry. She is a frequent vendor at St Pete Saturday Market throughout the Florida season (early October through late May). There are many talented craftsmen at local markets, and Yanira stood out of the crowd with her statement pieces. You might have sensed from my previous posts that I enjoy discovering local craftsmen, farmers, and other professionals. I really do, since I believe in supporting those around us, who are talented and are willing to make life around us more beautiful!
Yanira Ramirez, a native Puerto Rican, has been designing jewelry for more than 20 years. She studied Fashion Design in Puerto Rico, and Jewelry Design in Oklahoma, where she moved later. Now she lives in Florida, where she works from her jewelry design studio named Jóia. She uses aluminum, fused glass cabochons, ceramic clay and genuine leather to produce one of a kind necklaces, earrings, rings and bracelets. Aluminum provides light weight and versatility. At the same time, it shines like silver, will not tarnish and gives a contemporary appeal to the jewelry pieces. I found myself that it is easier to style silver colored jewelry than gold colored jewelry. Statement jewelry is very popular today, and the combination of price and good quality is rare. Unique jewelry is even more rare. Yanira is constantly creating new designs, but she can re-create the existing ones if you wish. The best thing is that she can adjust your bracelet to fit your unique arm! It has always been a challenge to me to find the right sized bracelet since my wrist is very narrow. I was so happy to discover Yanira – now I can enjoy my perfectly fit bracelet! (see the photos below)
Please check Yanira’s website here and her Facebook page to find your own favorite piece. She posts her schedule for selling at local markets on her website and Facebook. She has had great success at St Pete Saturday Market, and now she is working on updating her online store.
