How to Avoid Giving Bad Gifts for Holidays

How to Avoid Giving Bad Gifts for Holidays

“In suggesting gifts: Money is appropriate, and one size fits all.” William Randolph Hearst. The gift-giving season is almost here, and we will soon be making choices that will either make our recipients happy or simply polite by accepting the gifts that otherwise could be more thoughtfully chosen. Gifts should make both sides happy: we should feel that we give something that the person really needs or would appreciate; the recipient should feel at least comfortable on receiving a gift. Giving gifts is not a science with...

Unique Jewelry JÓIA by Yanira Ramirez.

“There is nothing new in art except talent.” Anton Chekhov. I would like to share with you my discovery of a talented jewelry maker, Yanira Ramirez. I met her at the local market in Wesley Chapel, and was impressed by her jewelry. She is a frequent vendor at St Pete Saturday Market throughout the Florida season (early October through late May). There are many talented craftsmen at local markets, and Yanira stood out of the crowd with her statement pieces. You might have sensed from my previous posts that I enjoy discovering local...

Adding Some Bloom to My Ears…

Earrings are an extension of your smile. Ahhh, what a wonderful life it is to see the blooming flowers and trees in May! Every fashionista would like to add some bloom to her wardrobe. With the latest trend, statement earrings, it is easy and affordable to do so. The choices are plenty! I could not resist either, and here is what I ended up with. I paired a white silk shirt with a printed pleat skirt, plus a yellow bright clutch to match yellow floral statement earrings. Since the color of the shirt is creamy white, I had to wear matching...

Chunks of Energy. Tasty and Healthy Snacks.

I would like to share with you my review of the product with a cute name Chunks of Energy. I met the creator of this wonderful product, Michael, at the raw meetup. He was visiting Florida, and decided to join a raw-meal dinner at Leafy Greens Cafe. He brought several varieties of chunks of energy, which are organic, raw, vegan, gluten-free mixtures of pressed nuts, seeds, vegetables or dried fruits. (They do not contain gluten, and certified gluten-free packages are available.) If you think of energy bars, some of them are crispy, other ones...

On a Sunday Stroll in Miami Beach.

“Fashion is what you adopt when you don’t know who you are.” Quentin Crisp. I never get tired of Miami Beach and its ‘see-and-be-seen’ Ocean Drive. I like to take a slow stroll on the opposite side of eateries, listen to different languages from tourists passing by, and feel the ocean breeze. I love the palm alley, and the music from the cafes does not interrupt my flow of thoughts. Maybe I enjoy it all as I do not live there, and it is just a visit. There is an atmosphere of vacation all over there, and it is...

How To Find An Autumn Tree In Florida

This would be a beautiful warm Autumn day… for the most of the planet. But for Florida it was quite chilly. Some people were wearing thick sweaters and faux fur boots. There were still few, who were wearing tanks and shorts… Here is my choice of outfit when it is 72F outside… Yellow linen jacket: Theory (Nordstrom Rack, $125 on sale. Was $475). Similar is here. Theory skirt (color and fabric looks the same as my jacket – check here on sale). Yellow suede shoes: BCBGeneration (Ross, $32). Similar are here, here and...

White Knit Lace Sweater for Autumn

Inspired by some fashion bloggers, I cannot just skip this opportunity to offer my version of introducing white, a “forbidden” color for Fall, into a dull rhapsody of yellow sounds of rain… This sweater is super soft and comes in 4 colors: chalk, navy, blush and grey. I could not help getting two, chalk and grey, for the coming season. It has a loose fit, so I had to order online both in XXS as XS was a bit too loose. Model: Elena White. Height 5’6” Sweater: American Eagle here. I also like...
