Networking Monthly Event at the Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber. Come to see and be seen.

Networking Monthly Event at the Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber. Come to see and be seen.

I would like to share with you a brief review of the event I attended on the first Tuesday of December. My Massage Therapist, Molly Snow, invited me to join a monthly networking event – early breakfast at the Greater Wesley Chapel Chamber of Commerce. It is a great event for professionals and Small Business Owners. Molly joined the community not so long ago, and she thought I might wish to check it for myself.

I was at networking events in the past, and before going I always had some subtle fear and several questions. Will there be many people there to interact with? Will they all be professionals while I am only the beginner? Would it all look too official and intimidating? :-) And the main question (for all women reading it): what to wear?! Rest assured, this event has something to offer to a professional of any level. On December 5, 2012, when I was there, the event could boast at least 50 attendees. Everyone was friendly and accommodating. It does not matter what you do; you never know whom you may meet, so it can be beneficial to both of you. As for the dress code, most people were dressed in business casual attire. Since the holiday season is underway, bright colors are a popular choice.

The event is held the first Tuesday of each month at Saddlebrook Resort: 5700 Saddlebrook Way, Wesley Chapel, FL. It is a big community and you should follow the signs for ‘Saddlebrook Resort’. Valet parking is included. You have to be a member of Chamber of Commerce of Wesley Chapel to attend, but you can still do it three times a year if you are not a member. It costs $20 to attend (cash, check or credit card), with breakfast included. You can pay in advance online and save two dollars.

Breakfast starts at 8am, but people arrive earlier, by 7.30am, as it gives you more time to establish new connections. Remember to bring your business cards. I recently read an article on how to make great business cards. You may wish to check it here. Also, I noticed several attendees wearing their professional badges. Temporary stickers, where you can write your name, title and company’s name, are provided for your convenience. Depending on your business goals, you may choose to become a business sponsor. It is $400 and it includes two breakfast meals and the opportunity from your company’s representative to address the entire group for 10 minutes. You can also be a breakfast table sponsor for $50. This sponsorship includes one breakfast meal, a table flag and the opportunity for your company’s representative to address the audience for one minute.

The agenda of the meeting includes presentations from the President, the Speaker, breakfast sponsors and the members of the Chamber of Commerce. All attendees can participate in raffle drawing, where the prizes are provided by the business owners. This is a great chance to advertise your businesses and a reason not to forget your business cards at home. Raffles are drawn from the business cards placed in a basket before the beginning of the meeting. Depending on the nature of the businesses, you may win anything from discounts on the services to coupons to the restaurants. My Massage Therapist, Molly, was offering three CranioSacral Massage Therapies. Lucky winners!

The event lasts for two and a half hours, but you will not notice it. If you are new to the area, or new to the business, such networking is a great opportunity for you to introduce yourself and establish new relationships.
